Can I replace a 37820-P0A-A01 with an A51 on 94 Honda Accord ex?
I have a 1994 Honda Accord ex with a manual transmission. The car will not turn on (it sounds as if it has no gas but tank is almost full) and the mechanic I have used for many years indicated that the computer was broken. The part I need to replace is the ecu 37820-P0A-A01 (350 KA-MT). I found one ecu at the local junk yard but it is a 37820-P0A-A51 (351 KA-AT) from an automatic transmission. The mechanic at the junkyard tells me that the automatic ECU will work on a manual vehicle but a manual one will not work on an automatic car and that I should be OK with buying the part he has. Problem is, there is no return on electronic parts and before I shell out $100 I want to make sure he is not lying to me. Your expert help is appreciated as I have never had to deal with replacing an ecu. Thanks!

Hold on. I wonder how the mechanic diagnosed the problem as the ECU? That is usually the last item that you would consider.
If you trust your mechanic's judgement and want to replace the ECU, get the ECU for a 94/95 MT accord. The part number is 37820-P0A-A01. Go to a site like car-part.com to search for Engine computers. You can sort the results by distance to see what local yards charge for the ECU.
You may want to do some troubleshooting. I would check for engine codes. Does the check engine light turn on for two seconds when you first turn the key to the II position? Does the check engine light stay turned on?
