Default Can Not engage Climate Control Buttons

I have a 2000 Accord (2.3) EX. Today I tried to engage the air conditioner and could not activate it. I tried engaging some of the other buttons and they would not work either. Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

It could be a blown fuse, the wiring, or the unit with the buttons.

What other buttons are not working? Does the clock work?

Definitely check fuses first.

First thing I did was check the fuse. That was not it. The fan and clock work.

Can you pull the unit and test for voltage. We can help with which wires and that to test.

And there are two fuses for the unit. One is the drivers under dash and another in the pass under dash.

This unit has a mind of its own. Out of the clear blue, the buttons starting working again (after the car sat for a few days). If it happens again, I guess I will remove the entire unit and have it replaced.

These units do have an issue. Some have had to add a "jumper" wire.

Does yours have the "auto" feature on it?

No it does not. Any idea how much to replace the climate control unit.

On e-bay, car-part dot com or a few other sites you might find new/used/rebuilt units. In the link I provided there is a write up on a "fix" that many have done on their own.

If your skills are such that you do not want to repair, and that is by no means disrespect - we all come with different skill sets. After proper testing and being sure the unit is failing, I'd purchase a new/used/rebuilt unit and either install yourself or take the unit to a shop and have them install it.

thanks for all your input. I am a DIYer and this is my "beater car," so I am inclined to do the repair/replacement myself. These forums have saved me a ton of money.
