RE: Car won't start help
need a sterter......
have someone try to start the car, you get a big screwdriver and bang on the starter whilehe/she cranks, if it starts you got the problem diagnosed

I was accelerating threw 50 and car jerked when I gave the pedel gas only the rpms went up. only thing was I could idle forward. turn off the engine and now it won't start. at first it sounds like a trans problem and now it won't start so it sounds like an engine. what could it be, sounds like a computer problem

Spark, Fuel, Compression, are needed to start the engine.
Check for spark by lifting a plugwire from the dist. about 1/4 inch and have some one crank the engine to see if there is spark.
Then you can open the fuel line fitting on the fuel rail have someone crank the engine and see if there is fuel pressure.
Next you could look thru the oil cap to be sure the cam turns when the engine is cranked over.
Then see if there is compression in the cylinders.

Computer has NO control over the starter. That one sounds like a bad starter solenoid, or maybe botched up starter pinion gear. You say the starter whines - Does that mean it doesn't engage the flywheel to spin the engine?
