Default CE light and no acceleration power

Today I was acelerating onto the highway, and the check engine light came on. A few minute later I tryed to pass and found that the car had not power. It will drive, but will not accelerate very fast.

The car is a 1995 Honda Accord EX with 150000 miles. This is the first time the Check Engine light has ever come on.

Can this be a sensor issue, or is it a mechanical problem?

Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong?

yea if you post the code we can tell you what it is. you should have an obd 2 motor and the plug is right behind the ash tray if it is. autozone will check the code for free. it starts with a p and then has 4 numbers after it.

You know what happens when you assume right? Diagnostic skills will get you a long way, and not just with cars so i think of these problems as good practice.

I drove the car to work with the light on and no acceleration. After I got off work I started the car and the check light did not reappear, the acceleraction returned. When I got home i found the oil was 2 quarts low. I have never lost more than a 1/2 quart between oil changes. There is no oil leak, since i had the rear seal replace due to leaking, so I wonder why I lost so much oil.

Any thoughts.

if they filled it up properly after the rear seal was replaced and there are no leaks than your engine is using ( burning ) oil ....
what i would do,, is .. change oil and filter and monitor it ,, for the next few hundreds, thousands miles ..chk oil every 500 miles or so ,,....if it is low again and for sure there are no leaks ,, engine is using oil,,
