Default CEL and code P0441

97 accord V6. 165,000 miles. Check engine light came on over the weekend. Code P0441 92 EVAP Emission Control System Improper Purge Flow. Any suggestions as to where to start looking? Hond aplace wants $70 an hour to troubleshoot but I figured that someone here might get me going in the right direction.

Thanks

first off if you have an evap canister that may be it or the lines might be plugged... also, make sure you gas cap is on tight (that can throw some weird errors too...)

I've seen that code on 4 different cars. Haven't been able to reproduce the code on any of em and none have returned. Clear it and see if it recodes.

I am going to check all the hoses in and around the canister and EGR valve for cracks or anything this evening. It does recode if I clear the ECU. Has new gas cap within last week. I will post what I find tomorrow about the hoses and go from there.\
Thanks for the help

alright here is the update. took it to the Honda place and they checked out the expansion valve at the canister and it is good. Checked all the vacuum hoses in and around that area leading from the canister, etc. all are good and not clogged. Also when I reset the ecu and then when the light comes back on it seems like the engine loses power or misses. It is weird. Any other thoughts, suggestions, comments, anything? Thanks

update - no hoses in or around the canister have any holes or damage. Any idea to number of sensors to the Evap System?

There's just one, the fuel tank pressure sensor. It's probably not your problem.

this is 1 that you might have to take to a dealer or a shop that specializes on Hondas

it could bew a # of things ......you need to diagnose step by step to locate the problem

could be the EVAP PURGE FLOW SWITCH,,,,,,PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE....An open or short in the wiring between PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE and the MAIN RELAY or even the ECM itself ..
