I have a '99 Honda accord Lx. My check engine light is on/ It will come on after driving for 20-30 mins..It will shut off/on the whole drive. I have changed oil pressure switch,Air intake system cleaner, replaced sender unit, spark plugs. I put in lucas Injector in with every full tank.. my car cuts out, it didn't pass smog..If anyone has any ideas I would appriciate it!!

Stop by a parts store like autozone and have them scan the code(s). Post any on here. They will start with the letter P and have 4 numbers, like P1234.

This is a 4-cyl engine? (LX-V6 also exists)

That code is for the VTEC oil-pressure switch. That's screwed into the VTEC spool valve (#11) on the back-side of the head. The VTEC oil-pressure switch is #14.

You replaced an oil-pressure switch? Maybe the one on the block instead of the one on the VTEC spool valve?

Now P1259 can be caused by low oil inventory or low overall oil pressure. I assume you've ruled those out?

It might be the internals of the VTEC spool valve are gunked-up & need to be cleaned. Including the mesh screen in the gasket (#13) where the spool valve bolts to the head.

Unfortunately, I think you have to drain some coolant & remove the thermostat housing in order to reach ONE of the bolts that hold the spool valve to the head.

But this looks like it'll be WAY easier than rebuilding.

Sounds like your exhaust gas recirculation system is messing up, would have trouble passing smog test due to it. Check that your egr valve is funtioning properly. You might as well check your valves adjustments, you can view the cam and check out the mechanical as well. What made them decide you need a new motor lol?
