Check Engine Light Codes
I have a 2001 VP Accord. The check engine light came on. I took it to the dealership and they told me the following:
-Code 1739 - third pressure switch not operating
-Code 1457 - evap cannister leaking and vent valve not operating
They quoted me about $500 to do the job. I declined for now until I know more about it. Can anyone give me advice? I have the extended warranty for transmissions (7 yr/100,000). Would code 1739 be covered under that? The dealership didn't mention it. Should I have them do the work?
Thanks.

RE: Check Engine Light Codes
how many miles on your car ???
there is a bulletin on faulty tranny ( bulletin 02-062) ( jan-5-2007) auto tranny warranty extension.. up to 7yrs 9 months or 109, 000 miles .. it affects all 2000-2001 accords .. if less than 109k it should be totaly FREE.. If over 109k, Yes extended warranty will pay for it you just have to pay the deductable ( if any ) .
Unless they need to just replace 3rd pressure switch ,or repair a wire ( connection ) and no internal tranny issues, than you might have to pay for it ..
p1457 is a leak in the evap system,, i have found on more than 1 occasion to be a bad evap bypass solenoid valve and a 2 way valve But that one need to be properly diagnosed ,, I DO NOT advice members to replace a component unless i am 101% sure ,,
So take it to a Honda specialist or the dealer to be properly diagnosed ..
