check engine light on with codes P341 and P1009 - honda accord 2012
Vehicle: Honda accord 2012 with very low mileage <60K. Check engine light is on, service center checked and mentioned that P341 (CMP sensor A and CKP sensor incorrect), found worn/stretched timing chain. Also P1009(VTC actuator) replacement too. It was not clear whether the VTC actuator needs to be replaced, but it could be due to the codes showing up, they wanted to replace that too.
Also, vehicle stutters during a cold start and sometimes accelerates during idling(between 2500-1500 rpms)
Any suggestions on what could be causing this and should I go with both those replacements ? This is my first post, please be easy.

I replied to you earlier post about this issue on a different thread.
Definitely replace the timing chain. See what the extra cost for the vtc actuator, because you may get a break, since several steps for the timing chain replacement are also the same for the vtc actuator replacement.
I've seen folks with P0341 on here with a stretched timing chain, but I don't remember seeing P1009 along with that code. It could be 2 different issues. Just doing a quick google search, 8th gen (08-12) Accords had a service bulletin to replace the vtc actuator with a P1009. Does the engine rattle loudly on cold start up?

There is no loud rattle during cold start, but sometimes it does not have a successful start after initial ignition. Seeing this only after the check engine light on.
On the VTC actuator change, they quoted an extra $350 for replacing that, minus the labor, as you mentioned it involves the same steps.

With less than 60k on the odometer what is your oil change interval and with what type of oil. A chain being stretched so early is an indicator of oil issues. These chains I believe are not listed in the maintenance schedule for change.

Well that was your mistake going to the dealership for an oil change. 😂 just to bring a laugh.
I don't trust dealerships anymore with oil changes. I've seen too many times where they don't do it or don't change the filter. It happen to my wife once when I was out of town. She took our Yukon to the dealership when it was time for an oil change the same filter was on my car (I put initials on my filters towards the top just in case).
Are you using full synthetic strictly or switching back and forth.

I understand. I'm not knocking you in anyway. It just seems strange that at 60k the chain has already stretched. I don't not know if these cars had issues or not with the chain. Apparently they have had issues with the VTC for them to have a TB. The sad part is maybe only one thing is bad but it makes no sense opening the car up and not doing both.
