Check Engine Light question

RE: Check Engine Light question
There's also the EVAP purge valve which is up in the engine compartment. I didn't have a V-6 (when I owned a 6th-gen) so this valve is probably located differently.
I'd have to look at the Helm repair book to refresh my memory. There's about 10 pages of detailed testing for P1457 alone.
Check this thread, scroll down about halfway to my detailed post of stuff to check.

RE: Check Engine Light question
Thanks Jim. I checked the purge valve and it held vacume when not powered but opened up when 12vdc was applied.I printed out your post in the other thread and it will be a great help. Gonna wait till the CEL light appears again before proceeding. I can't keep my wifes car down for two days in a row. LOL.

this bulletin outlines a known problem. it's common, but the other failures listed(fuel tank pressure sensor, purge control solenoid, canister vent shut valve) do fail often as well.
