Default Checking CVT transmission on 2014 Accord?

I just got my 2014 Accord Sport with CVT tranny.
I see where the check/fill plug is but there is NO dipstick. Honda offers no explanation on how to check tranny fluid levels and I was wondering how the dealer would know as miles go on what the level of fluid is?

Also, there is the usual maintenance minder on dash on when to change the fluid but not mileage numbers. What would be the approximate mileage for a fluid change?

Thanks, Rick

The plug on top you're seeing is the filler cap.

The car is lifted. Then there is a check bolt that needs to be removed to check the CVT fluid level, the procedure is similar to checking a manual transmission fluid level.

Not entirely sure what the approximate mileage will be for maintenance sub-code 3.

Sub-code 3: Replace transmission fluid*4,*5
Footnotes:
*4 Automatic transmission (CVT) models
*5 Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher transmission temperatures. This requires transmission fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If you regularly drive your vehicle under these conditions, have the transmission fluid changed every 25,000 miles (40,000 km).

On my kids' 2007 Hondas, there was something in the maintenance booklet, indicating "generally" at what mileage those maintenance items happen. It wasn't real obvious or easy to find in that booklet.

Can you share the pics or describe a bit. I too have a '14 accord.

I also found a site that explained the procedure for changing the fluid in our 2015 Accord CVT. My question has been how is the fluid considered changed by only draining out 3.7 quarts of the 8 plus quarts the CVT holds when full? Seems to me all you've done is contaminate the 3.7 new quarts, at $15.00 a quart, by leaving the 5 quarts of the old fluid in there!

True, but that's very typical of automatic transmissions for years. Normal automatics don't drain the torque converter - not something new for CVTs.

There's probably a statement somewhere where you drain out the 3.7 quarts twice or 3 times too to actually change the fluid (like a regular Honda AT gets 3 quarts, 3 times). Yes, there will be a trace of old fluid you don't get out, but it's not really enough to make that big of a difference.
