Yeah, I agree fuel pump runs for 2 seconds (when you first turn on the key). That's a preset time and not related to any measured pressure.

Since the fuel pump is running & doesn't stop, that means someone has done some creative wiring.

It's easy to rewire the MFR to allow fuel pump to run full time. I did this on my 94 Accord when I thought I had an intermittent MFR, but instead had an intermittent fuel pump.

Interesting, but probably has nothing to do w/ chugging problem.

good luck

Thanks for all the ideas. So the only thing I havent replaced is the timing belt. Can timing be checked ? I guess it is possible the belt jumped a tooth ahead. Doesnt seem to be anyway to turn distributor to see if it runs better.

It's possible to check the spark timing with a timing light, but that won't tell you if the timing belt skipped.

You'll have to remove the plastic upper timing cover and check the marks on the sprocket.

Most who diy have run into problems that seem to defy logic.

I had a bad ECU recently on my 94ex, a part I thought was virtually bullet proof on Accords. It took a long time to appreciate that when all else has been tested and found good, then what's left must be faulty.

Your only consolation will be when the problem is solved, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Were you able to check timing belt and timing? Kinda confused about sequence of work you've done. Perhaps a chronicle?

good luck

Default re-check

Have you tried a propane test? This substitutes fuel to help in diagnostics, such as possible vacum leak. I don't know if there is a section on it in DIY.
