code 0122 and bucking at low speeds
Just acquired a 96 accord ex with the 2.2 v-tech from a family member. Car is an automatic. Has had a history of the CEL light coming on and flashing while driving and car will buck at low speeds, rev up and down erratically. Codes were pulled and 0122 has always came up. The throttle position sensor "assembly" was first changed out with another used one. Still acted the same way. Next, the tps assembly was changed out with a brand new one-$1200, still acting up. That was 2 years ago. Car has sat because owner did not want to drive it with it acting the way it does. Would anyone have any possible answers as to why this is happening? Is it possible to throw a certain code and the problem is something else? The negative battery cable was changed yesterday, the spark plugs and wires before it was parked. I thought about a bad/rusted ground.

Bad wiring to the TPS? P0122 doesn't mean the TPS has to be bad - just that the signal from the TPS doesn't make sense. Loose/dirty/corroded connections at the TPS? Open or short somewhere in the wiring from the TPS to the ECU?

I checked all the plug connections, etc to and from the tps. Everything looks clean and sound. For the heck of it I unplugged the vacuum hose from the egr valve and reset the CEL. Took it for a drive at highway speeds for about 35 miles, the CEL never came on. Runs excellent. Will this harm anything?thinking about it logically it will just pass a few more emissions out the tailpipe. Perhaps the Egr runner is plugged. There is 180k miles on the car, probably wouldn't hurt to replace the egr. I found out the last time the fuel filter was changed was in 05 also! I will be changing that very soon also.
