Default Cold Start: VSA & Check Engine Light (09’ 2.4)

Hello,

Started my vehicle yesterday morning and this past morning instantly the VSA & check engine light lit up. Turned off the engine restarted the VSA light went out check engine light remained lit.

Checked the codes: P0341 code.

Cleared the code. Vehicle drives perfect no discernible difference whatsoever. No warning lights or issues. Cold start is when the code is flagged.

Any idea what might be going on?

The P0341 is the highest probability of a stretched/damaged timing chain.

Low oil levels, dirty oil, etc. will lead to this. It doesn't help that many vehicles had excessive oil consumption due to issues with the piston oil control rings.

Should get this repaired asap to avoid bent valves, engine replacement, etc.

Understood will have the timing chain investigated by my mechanic. Rather replace it than face disaster.

Started my Accord yesterday and no codes. Runs well as always. My mechanic suspects the VTC solenoid actuator is malfunctioning. Is it possible it caused the code?

Second owner hence maintenance history is a mystery. Going to have a complete tune up before winter.

Thinking of adding a tin of Sea Foam prior to next synthetic oil change. Thoughts?
