converting to F22A6
im replacing my F22A1 in my '90 accord with a F22A6 from I think a '93 accord. will the engine harness on the A6 plug right into the body harness in my '90? and will the ECU also plug right in? if yes to both is the A6 intake butterlies going to function properly? like will the wire be there to control the Intake Air Bypass solonoid?

RE: converting to F22A6
90-93 both have the same part number for the IACV, so it should work; if I'm remembering correctly the "A6" has the intercooler oil filter base, might be worth the effort to change the base 'O' ring while the engine is out and easy to work on.
The 90-91 has the internal dist coil ;the 92-93 has the external coil So heads up for that little rewiring situation.

RE: converting to F22A6
huh? im talking about the IAB system. IACV control idle. IAB controls the secondary butterflys in the middle of the intake.

RE: converting to F22A6
that still dosnt help me. I have the complete F22A6 intake with all the controls and engine harness(the wrecking yard just unplugged it from the body harness and unbolted the engine). since im driving my car till the weekend I change the engine im trying to find out if the engine harness from the A6 out of the '93 EX will plug into my '90 LX body harness. and if it will will I still need to do any wiring to make the IAB system work or if the wiring in the '90 harness supports the IAB solonoid. I know I have to get the ecu from an F22A6 powered car.

NO THE HARNESS IS DIFFERENT [sm=headbang.gif]
When the old engine is out of the car swap out the intake manifold, exhaust manifoldand wiring harness. Then you won't need to buy another ECM and the only issue to address is the different coil setup; and that is a simple fix as well because you can just swap in your original Dist and plug it up to the original harness.
I can't understand Why you want to complicate this job; but I'm not here for peoples entertainment. If you want to argue; Contact the Moderators and have me thrown off this website.

RE: converting to F22A6
well I actually finnaly found out that the plugs are different from another forum earlier today.
and I dont want to put the A1 intake on. I want to leave the A6 intake on, the A6 exhaust, and I am going to get the ECM to support IAB system at some point. if I dont keep all this stuff on the motor it like throwing away 15hp.
so anyway im leaving the A6 intake and exhaust on. but now I know I have to put the wiring harness from the A1 on it so I will remove the harness while im changing the seals and belts and putting the balance shaft seal on. im just trying to have as much ready as I can before I pull the old engine. when I get the ECM from an A6 powered car I will rob the connecter for the vacuum solonoid that controls the IAB system and run a wire for it to the ECM. if I dont get the ECM before I put the the A6 in I will be just running the IAB vacuum pot to to an manifold vacuum source or play around to see what the best drivabiltiy I get out of it is.
I can tell your trying to help, but you were not reading what I was asking and giving an answer to what I was asking. I dont know why when somebody asks a question and somebody replies they cant answer the question being asked instead of telling the person they have to do it different. maybe try teading what the person is asking and give an answer to the question if you have it. if you knew during your first post that the '93 engine harness would not not plug into the '90 body harness you could have said so in your first reply instead of talking about something I didnt ask and saved both of us from beating our heads against the wall

thank you
Hondadude,
you just answered the question i asked this morning.
i am replacing an A1 with an A6 engine.
i figured that the exhaust and intake could be swapped to the A6 block.
now to go drop that block/tranny in the car before it gets dark

Not 100% sure but I donno if a factory f22a1 ecu will run a f22a6 cam correctly??...since the a6 cam is more aggressive so Im assuming that the a6 ecu has a diff a/f ratio map. Your also restricting the a6 by using the a1 intake mani.
