Default coolant for 2002 Accord SE

What would be typical brand of coolant and coolant type for my 2002 Honda Accord. Car is new to me and I checked coolant with my "ancient" Prestone brand tester and it doesn't look good for 25 degree F weather. Something I can get at Wal-Mart tonight.

Doesnt matter if its pre-mixed or if you mix it yourself (with distilled water).

Your ancient tester should still be OK. That measures specific gravity, which tells you about the freezing point of the mixture.

There is NO normal tester that can tell you whether the anti-corrosion package has worn out. You just replace the coolant every couple years.

Thank you very much for your help. Not sure what was in the car. I got enough of the 50/50 in and circulating to take care of immediate threat. I need to find the radiator drain **** and do a better job tomorrow.

IIRC, the drain **** is near center at the bottom of the radiator. Little plastic wing-nut type thing.

V-6 or 4-cyl?? The 4-cyl has a drain bolt in the back of the engine block, sorta left of the oil filter. Theres agood amount of coolant that does NOT drain out.
