Default Coolant compatibility

Can the regular Honda coolant (green colored) be mixed with Honda Type 2 coolant (blue colored). I have 2000 Honda Accord EXV6.
Thanks.

according to honda service news they are compatible, BUT you will not get the full benefit unless you completely replace the old coolant with it due to dilution with the old coolant. So, why spend the money on the new stuff, just drain and fill with the old in my opinion.

That "full benefit" being the long lifespan of the anti-corrosion package. So if your existing coolant is a few years old it would be good to drain & replace it anyway.

Yes I will flush all the green coolant and replace with the Type 2 so that I can use the same in Acura MDX.

I did ask the Honda dealership and hesitation that I noticed on the young service guy's face alerted me to probe further at this forum.

I have drained the green from the radiator and changed the thermostat which came out almost new without any indication of rust. Still I notice a very minute leak close to the bottom of the radiator. I put in GUNK stop leak and will see if the leak stops.

If it did not, then I will replace the radiator with Type 2 coolant.

Please feel free to comment.
Thanks.
