Cooling Fan...How Much Time?
Hi, Today i powerwashed the engine of my honda accord 94. It is the f22b2 with the auto trans. It was very dirty, so i applied some degreaser and now the engine is shiny and looks good.....BUT now dad was driving the accord, parked it, turned off the engine, and the passenger side cooling fan kicked in. We were....err, impresed, because since we have this car (3 months) the cooling fan only worked like 2 times, 2 or 3 minutes each time. Today, the cooling fan worked like 15 minutes when the engine was turned off, and we were thinking if this is normal operation now the engine is clean, or i screwed something when i powerwashed the engine.
I want to know how many time does the cooling fan is working when you turns off the engine after normal driving ? the temp needle stays steadily under the middle area and does not fluctuate, so i think the cooling system is working properly.
Any Helpwould be appreciated. Greetings from Mexico.

RE: Cooling Fan...How Much Time?
There's a fan switch in the thermostat housing. Follow the LOWER radiator hose back towards the firewall to the T-stat. That one's responsible for switching the fan while the engine is running. Check the circuitry by unplugging that & jumpering the wire with a paperclip. Key on, that should make the fans run.
There's another fan switch in the UPPER radiator hose nozzle. That one's responsible for switching the fan after you turn off the engine. I bet you got water into that electrical connector. Dry it out. Then test it as follows...
Cold engine, like first thing in the morning. Start the engine & run for only about a minute. There's NO WAY the engine can be hot enough to require the fan. If it runs after shutdown, that fan switch is bad.
