pab_ ac system charge is low......but as "phatboy" suggested, there is a switch on the t-stat, check the "Common DIY Threads" sticky second from the top for its location. Jump that with the key to ON/Pos II, do BOTH FANS come on?

poorman, first off thanks or all the help you gave me in the past!!!

anyway, so both fans turn on with switch A? i thought is was rad - switch A and, both - switch B, i could be wrong with the early 1990's models if there is only one switch but...

ok, pab_

so, go to a nice local auto parts store, "carquest in my area is cheap and seems to care". grab yourself a a/c pressure guage, then strap that puppy up to the low side a/c lines, the guage wont fit on the high side, also you will probably need the r12 adapter. log the readings it gets, probably low.

check that switch, thats most likely your issue

Thanks for the info pahtboyslim2012.

I am not sure what you mean about switch A or B? Where are they located and how do I test them? Also, my car was updated with an adapter for r134a refrigerant, so can I get a a/c pressure guage for to test that?

Thanks!

First_phatboy_anytime, that is why I'm here, just trying to help.....I didn't know this stuff 20 years ago when I got my first Honda....

Second post from the top, a "sticky" has a section about the "cooling switches" for the 4th and up gen Accords....I'm on the hook for writing up the 3rd gens that I haven't done yet.

Anyway. Thermo/switch A is on the T-stat (thermostat housing)-90 and up that would be where the lower rad hose connects to the engine, behind/back of the distributor, also where the coolant "bleeder" bolt is. Green connector with two wires. When "jumped" and key ON/POS II or running, BOTH fans should be on.

Switch/thermo B is on the upper hose (again 90 and up), it has a green connector as well. This one controls ONE fan when the car is shut off.

and sorry, pab....

If the car has been retro fitted with 134a, you can rent a ac manifold gauge set to test the high and low side pressure...PLEASE do not run the ac for very long with the "low pressure" switch jumped...it is there for a reason, to keep the ac compressor from burning up......

Thanks, poorman212!

I have not jumped them yet ... not by my car. but, if both fans come on for switch A and do I also jumped switch b? if so, should one fan come on? if it does, do it mean switches are bad on both?

okay. so, there is not an a/c pressure gauge I can buy to test the pressure for 134a? I thought I saw something like that at Autozone or Pepboys?

First...can we do this on one forum....PLEASE. I'd prefer this one as the other can get nasty quick.......

Jump "A" (lower hose, t-stat housing) EDIT: Read your other post, this would be the "wire" side if the connector_, both fans should come on with key on or running. No need for B at this time..

Yes there is, you need a "134a" gauge set. I suggest one where you can read the high and low side pressure.
