Cruise Control Doesnt Work
#11
I finally got around to checking out the cruise control.
First of all, I couldnt get the module itself out of the car, Im not sure how its in there.
I got the cable off and found a bit of an issue, I'd like your opinions as to whether it is the cause of the cruise control not working at all.
Here are pics of the damage...

This is where cable enters the cruise control vacuum actuator. This actuator "pulls" the cable so I don't think this would disable the actuator. I had something similar and used some wire to hold the end stop in place.
Have you check vacuum supply and lines as suggested?
good luck

I strongly doubt that the broken plastic was an issue, but I went ahead and fixed it anyways;
That is JBWeld you see on there.
I havent had time to check the vacuum hoses and actuator yet but that is next on the agenda.

I've made similar repairs on plastc items. I've found that embedding a layer of ripstop nylon fabric into the repair greatly strengthens the repair, providing more tensile strength to the epoxy.

So I took the whole cruise control assembly out, the reason I couldn't get it out before was because I didn't realize that the whole thing came out, bracket and all, not just the thing that houses the diaphragm. I found the problem and it was a pretty sad one. The vacuum hose was detached... sheesh. So now my cruise control works AND I fixed a vacuum leak I didn't know I had.
The hose is pretty tight though, so I may still replace it with one that is an inch or two longer to prevent the same thing from happening again.

On the 95 it is right next to the firewall on the passenger side. Right next to the fuse box. It has a cable that runs over the valve cover to the throttle in a big loop. It looks like a cylinder with a cable that goes into it
