I have a 1997 Honda Accord LX 2.2 cyl non vtec and automatic 4dr. My problem is that the cruise works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I have tried the diagnosis procedure from alldata and everything checked out fine. I think that is seems to work more when its raining but i am not for sure. Anbody have any sugestions?

 

When cruise does not work, does the cruise light in the dash come on and stay lit? Does the dash panel cruise light stay on?

If dash panel light stays on but cruise light on dash stays off, the steering column switch or cable reel are suspects. Also make sure brake lights are not occasionally sticking on. AT gear position switch can also cause this problem.

I did check the steering wheel controls, and also the brakes switch and the gear selector switch and alll checked out good. The light in the guage cluster only comes on when the cruise is working, the light will go out if the cruise quits and will not come on when the cruise is not working. I will keep trying diffrent things but I suspect that the cruise control unit may be bad.
