I have a 92 Accord and today the D4 lights came on and stays on along with the light for the gear you are in. When this happened, the transmission would not shift in auto and would only shift to 1st then to 2nd but would not show any difference when we went to D3 or D4. I unplugged the connectors for the shifter switch on the side of the shifter and checked with a ohm meter in each position and it checked good. After doing this, I plugged it back in and now when I turn the ign. switch to the on position, the Park light and the D4 is on but the D4 will go off when the check engine light goes off. When the D4 light is off, the trans. will shift correctly. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causeing this problem?

Short the service check connector under the glove box (2-wire connector plugged into dummy plastic holder) and see if D4 light will blink any codes. Long blink is 10's digit and short blink is unit's. There will be a 5-sec pause between sequential codes or repeat of same code.

had a 92 and a 93 that both did that, could disconnect the battery and it would shift correct but then it would do the same thing again, no code faults were found in either vehicle, i changed the transmission computer in both cars and they both are now perfect, dr 4 light was on not blinking
