Default To da Track

ok so i put my car in the track for the first time today... it was horrible... i ran very fast but couldent get traction... i know if i could of caught... i would of ran high 15s or low 16s... even after white smoking my tires for 200 feet i still got up to 84 mph in the quarter running a final time of 21 seconds... anyone got any tips for a person with some skinny tires trying to run a quicker quarter... (tires are 205/60/r15)

get wider rims? or just spend some money for two 13inch 8 or 9 inch wide with slicks. Otherwise its a situation of learning what point you can rev it to when you pop the clutch without spinning the tires... tires that arent wide means you wont have traction if you have enough power..... even though..... my car does the 1/4 in the mid 16's........ with an auto....

and if your tires have enough tread worn off, it wont matter anyways

What RPM do you drop it from? Bigger tires is the best way to fix things, but practice and fine tune your launch to find the best way.

I've also heard of traction bars for civics, does anyone know of any for accords? This would surely help keep those front tires on the ground.

shuddered as it it was like the wheels bouncing up and down? if its doing that, then you need better shocks and springs. If you can manage to find a poly rear motor mount, that will help on your launch as well, theres also the option, of this little high pressure shock you can get that mounts to the engine and the firewall to prevent the front to rear engine movement.
And check your motor mounts in general, they could be failing.

As for traction bars, there arent any that i know of off hand.

My 03 Accord 4cyl 5spd 4 door got 15.6s at Tulsa Raceway last year. My friend got one run down to a 15.4. The track was running slow that night also. I did have 235/45r17 all seasons on it. The launches were at 3k and no clutch drop.
