Default Dead A/C in FLA

New guy with 93 Accord LX MT. A/C is dead. Will not turn on. Over the years it has had a slow leak which was resolved when recharged. I am not a car guy so I need to take it to a technician but I do not have a clue. How should I proceed? Thanks in advance.

how long ago was it repaired/recharged? did it stop all of the sudden or was it a slow death into the heat of the FLA ??? do all the controls work on the panel, blower, mode select etc. ?? if so, you need to start with the basics "is there any refrigerant in the system" and that requires a visit to the shop. Don't listen to anybody here that says to "***** nilly" dump freon into the system from a parts store kit...you WILL cause yourself more problems than not...my .02

Thanks for the reply. It was recharged about 3 years ago and lasted through the summer. We then manually switched the unit to heat and then cool in the spring. No more cool air (this has had happened before). A little while later the blower quit. None of the controls work. I can take it into the shop to check for refrigerant. I just do not know what to expect about the other stuff.

Buy AC Manifold.
Rent vacuum pump from Autozone, vacuum system
recharge with specified amount of refrigerant along with UV dye

Check with UV light and funky goggles to find out where the leak is so you only have to repair the leak and recharge once more next time.
