Default Dimmed front dashboard light

Hello everyone,

I have a small issue with my Honda Accord 2004, 2.2 diesel w/ navigation. There is a small LED screen on top of the dashboard which shows the time, air conditioning temperature, radio information etc. It works fine until the engine temperature becomes normal (I mean the engine gets warm). After that, the screen dims and I can only see what it shows when viewing by a certain angle. It is really annoying. I have tried taking out the front dash and checking the wires, but they seem to be in perfect condition. One interesting thing is that if you hit slightly the top of the dashboard, the clock lights back and you can see it clearly. But the other hit on the dashboard dims it.
I have been searching for answer in multiple forums, but haven't found any similar threads. My honda dealer said that he hasn't heard about this problem before, but I can leave my car for a check, but that would cost.
If anyone has any ideas what might be the issue, please let me know. I would be very thankful!

I haven't seen this problem come up on Accords, but on Subaru clocks w/ backlit display, there is a problem w/ small clock circuit board. Surface mount resistor solder jts on the board crack. Sometimes the tiny resistors fall off. If you can pull the unit, examine the board w/ magnifying glass for cracked solder jts. A frequent symptom of this is senstiviity to vibration/heat.

Repair is to very carefully w/ low heat (15-25 watt) soldering iron resolder the joints. In my case, I resoldered all the surface mt resistors. Note, it may be necessrary to spot glue the surface mount resistor to keep in place while you solder. Heat on one jt can melt a just-finished jt also. Very tricky to solder.

good luck
