DIY CALIPER POLISHING/PAINTING
here are some general steps to polishing out your calipers and or painting them using dupli-colors metal cast.
Step 1 remove wheel & asses the situation.
step 2 remove all dirt & grim from any surface to be painted w/ a degreaser of choice. spray solvent Scrub, rinse, scrub, rinse, scrub, rinse, using a mild brush. Then dry. (dry using blow dryer or cloth will do.)
\
after a thorough rinse this should be your ending prod.
step 3 polishing here you will need a wire brush & a **** load of elbow grease, unless you are using a drill as i did, w/ a coarse wire brush NOT FINE OR ANYTHING HEAVY! you will damage the caliper by digging into the material. Polish to desired finish
here is a finished sample (if you want it chrome/polished stop here & add a clear coat...high heat/ metalcast clear)
Step 4 mask off areas that you do not want paint on if you are to lazy to remove the caliper as i was. Then begin w/ a light misty coat...proceed with another coat @ a minimum of 10 min. intervals depending on climate.
