downshifting 1995 Accord 2.2l 4cyl. auto
Hey all...I have 95 Accord 2.2l 4cyl auto..I just noticed this week, when iwas driving the car up a steep road and stomped on the gas pedal and im driving the rpms were so high and the more i pushed the gas the rpms were gettin high,it wasnt down shifting when it was suppose to.Then when i came down the road and the push gas pedal, and then take my foot off the rpms would go downi get a shimmy little shack (little vibration)in the car, when the rpms went down.If anyone know whatsthe problem could be i greatly appreciate it.Thxs

If the rpms are at 4500-5000 you don't want the car to downshift because that would push it over redline. It doesn't want to upshift to lower the rpms because then it won't have enough power to accelerate or climb the hill. Engine power is finite .... looks like you found your limit. Next time, try getting a longer running start for that hill.

I think he is meaning it wouldn't upshift. Like it was stuck in third and wouldn't go to fourthor something. I know he said "downshift" but from reading it I think he really means "upshift"
