Driveaxle popped out...
I recently did a CV boot replacement, which included a new snap-ring. Shortly after driving it I noticed (thankful to my paranoia) that the driver's side driveaxle had pulled itself out of socket. My install was such that I could not pull it out by hand as the manual instructed. I am going to replace the snap-ring (again) and the seal. I have no idea as to the possibilities of why it pulled out like that. I lined both inner and outer boots into the grooves on the axle, so I don't think there would be irregular pull from over-stretched boots...any ideas?

I have not had an axle pop out, but I have had problems w/ getting new snap rings to seat properly. When you install the axle, you must hear a very positive click when the snap ring pops open into the locking groove. Just pushing axle home and hoping its seated won't do the job. On two occasions, I eventually went back to the original snap ring and was successful in re-installing the axle. Make sure the splines and receiving grooved housing is as clean as possible by wiping w/ clean paper towel or rag. Lube splines w/ light grease to ease insertion. Axle will not pop loose if snap ring is engaged properly.

I have had axles not seat as in not hearing the snap, when the snap ring is not compressing correctly or burrs on the shaft. I would test fit the axle without the snap ring and see it if hangs up.
