I had that problem with our 97 accord. Tried lubricants to no avail. Replaced the weather stripping with new factory version. Cured it. I have a 95 now and it is doing the same thing so I am going to replace the weather stripping.

 

By "weather stripping" do you mean the rubber channels the window slides up/down on?

There is a plastic weather trim on outside that pushes against outside of window to limit water running down window face.

I used that silicone paste Ericthecarguy used in one of his videos and it works great, and seems to be lasting. The shin-etsu grease, and silicone sprays did nothing for me. The silicone paste is also good for brakes (slide-pins).

 

brandon, when you replaced the window motor, did you replace the entire window regulator assembly? If it's stuttering that would sound like the gears between the regulator and motor are slipping.

Our 96 EX had the slow window problem, I ended up replacing both front regulators with rebuilt ones from RockAuto, and they work much better now. I think The only thing left between our current status and new operation is new glass -- I've heard the curvature relaxes over time causing some tightness in the channels.

If you replaced only the motor and not the regulator assembly, then you might consider replacing the regulator as well.

If you did replace the regulator, then you might consider trying to measure the curvature of the glass vs it's counterpart on the other side to see if it's more or less curved.

I think what I've deduced is that the rubber track / weather stripping is worn away. And by that I mean…

In a new car the track almost feels like velvet where it touches the window in the center and along park of the track.

Well, all of that is worn away and it's just glass on sticky rubber. So I'm gonna try replacing that.

 

I just replaced the drivers run channel on my sons car a few weeks ago for the same reason. It wasn't all that hard, just annoying... I think I paid $80 or so and it took about an hour and a half in the cold (including looking all over for that darn screw I dropped).

 

Thats always worked for me- 2 or 3 times
