I have twice experienced this unpleasant event, the most recent today on the freeway at about 60mph. I am driving a '99 Honda Accord LX, 4 cyl. auto tran. Some lights on the dash came on: doors open and the key icon, either check engine or maintenance required. The spedometer and tach went to zero, and the gas did not respond when i stepped on it. After I had it off the highway, I was able to start it again and travel a couple miles before it quit for the last time. I just had it towed home. full tank of gas. What are the possibilities? If you can get the car to startup, try shaking the key. If it stalls out, then it is your ignition switch. There was a recall on your generation accord. Check with the dealership to see if it was changed.
