Default Electic antenna Wiring

A few weeks ago I asked about a manual antenna on this board. I found what I needed and replaced my broken antenna. But then this week some guy snapped my new antenna off. I decided to replace with an electric antenna this time. I still didn't want to spend hundreds on a new electric so I got a working used antenna for 5 that needs a new mast. I plugged it in to try and pull the old mast out and the antenna will retract but not extend. I think that it may have to do with the fact that there is an aftermarket radio in the car and it may not have been wired to the antenna? What would I need to do to wire it in to the antenna? Any advice on this I would appreciate.

It's a 91 Accord EX.

I pulled the antenna back out this afternoon. And I used a jumper wire to the battery to run the motor and got the old plastic gear drive and antenna out. Now I know that both directions on the antenna and motor run. But I am still not sure why I have no power at the connector with the radio on.

See stereo installation thread in the DIY section. It links to a site that will show you how to properly wire the aftermarket radio.
