Electrical Problem 94 Accord LX
Well I just picked up a nice honda accord LX off a friend really cheap and well it was wrecked in the driver's front side.(not the door but by the bumper close to the light) Ive bent as well as I could out the side and finally gotten the fender to bolt on straight, however I belive I have a short in my wiring involving my tachometer/guage cluster. The Speedometer works fine, Temp, Gas, all work except for my Odometer, Triptometer, and my RPMs. Ive pulled the cluster out and all the wires are connected but I just cant seem to find where my problem hear in lies. The Odometer is stuck on 170399/400 and its kinda bugin me because unless its a bad wire, why would it just stop it WAS working a few days ago but now its not.
Also, my headlight when I just try to turn them on the wont, however my brights DO work. If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it! Thanks! If this is in the wrong place sorry I am new so if a mod could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it
Peace

RE: Electrical Problem 94 Accord LX
Odometer and speedometer are driven by same input signal. Since speedomenter is working, I would suspect a mechanical fault on the odometer and trip odometer.
Tach is driven by a signal from the distributor ignitor. Checking this signal will probably require an oscilloscope, but the problem could also be the circuit in the instrument panel.
I would suggest purchasing a used instrument panel. I'm not sure, but suspect the mileage can be adjusted to your current value by a knowledgeable body shop or mechanic familiar w/ the mechanism. I've heard it is possible to simply move the numbers w/ a rubber pencil eraser, but don't know if this is true or not. You can file an amended mileage statement(in TX for sure) w/ the state auto registration if you want to leave the mileage of the replacement panel unchanged.
good luck

RE: Electrical Problem 94 Accord LX
I missed your lights question. Looks like you need new bulbs, the dims filamentsare gone, or the dimmer relay or dimmer switch is damaged. Both are relatively easy to replace.
good luck
