Electrical problems in 1992 Honda Accord
HELP! My Cigarette lighter, doom light, intermittent function of the window wipers, the chime alert sounds all stopped working. My mechanic said it was nothing wrong with the fuses. The Honda dealership says it is a faulty main electrical harness and will charge me and arm and a leg to replace it. The horn was not working either, but the dealer ran a separate line from the horn directly to the battery. Could there be another explanation for what is going on here?

It could be partiially a faulty integrated control unit which controls several of those functions; wipers, chime, but not dome light and cigarette lighter, which are wired to battery through fuse box only. Note cigarette lighter backlight is wired w/ other interior dimmable lights.
I would suggest checking underhood fuse box carefully to be sure there are no loose connections in the box. Check underside for secure connections. Note, disconnect battery first.
Otherwise only way to determine fault is to trace power from fuse box to "open point" w/ a Volt Ohm Meter or test light.
good luck
