engine light on for code p1457

P1457 is leak detected in EVAP control system (EVAP control canister system). Although it may be something else on the canister side of the EVAP system, some of the usual culprits are the EVAP bypass solenoid valve or the EVAP vent shut valve.
If it was the gas cap, that would be P1456, leaked detected in EVAP Control System (Fuel Tank System).

Well I'm a fan of testing things before replacing.
One thing you might want to do is get a shop manual for this car. I'm not putting them down but I am NOT talking about a haynes or chilton book.......go someplace like automanualsource dot com and get one.
If you live in a place where rust is an issue, the two screws/bolts that hold the shut valve to the canister get rusted and become a real pain to remove.

Did you figure out where the leak was?

Isnt it almost always the Vent Shut Valve(17310-S0X-A0) that needs to be replaced? I agree that its almost always worth testing but in this case, it usually is a safe bet. Its cheap, not hard to do, and will most likely go bad at some point.
