Yo nasty my friend if we ares till talking about his 95 accord ,, i have to correct you ,, the t-stat is at the end of the lower radiator hose , since the 90 acoords that's where it is ,, up to 89 t-stat was at end of upper rad hose ....
Yo cenk......you need to pressure test the cooling system to see if there are any leaks,, you should not smell antifreeze ,,, either you do it or have a shop do it.. also have them pressure test the radiator cap,, also look around at the radiator top tank for cracks ,,,,
Have you actually removed the cap to make sure radiator is full to the top ??
also if you need to add coolant make sure that it is a 50/50 mix of coolant and water .. do not add straight coolant unless it is just barely enough to top radiator off

 

well as i said, im kinda in a dilema rightnow.

my car works fine, except as i said when is top i can smell coolant.

i checked teh radiator (it is also only 4-5months old i put it in myself) and it is fine, no leaks and the coolant is at the top. I bled some coolant ouf the bottom valva and added a bit in the top.

i dont just yet wana attempt to take uppart all that valva stuff...cuz well eventhough i know i can do it i still have a like an anxiety thought that i may **** up my car.

how much would u guys say it would cost to get it looked at, at a shop and not do anything?

cuz i raelly dont have or shouldnt have tons of money laying around for repairs. Id like to find out Exactly what is wrong and basically fix all myself i can that does not require special tools.

 

The fast idle valve is really easy to repair. It took me maybe an hour to complete. Make sure that you reset your ECU by pulling the 7.5 amp fuse in the engine bay for 30 sec when finished doing this, because the ECU will have to recalibrate the idle settings.

The surging idle means that extra air is getting to your engine somehow. It can be from a vacuum leak or the Idle valves allowing too much air to bypass (which is basically a vacuum leak). The fast idle was causing my car to surge anywhere from 1000 to 2500 rpms. Repairing it fixed my problem.

You can test the valves and its easy to do. Take off the intake tube that goes into the throttle body and start your car. There are two holes in the throttle body. The upper one bypasses air to the intake and is controlled by the IAC valve. The lower is for the FITV. When the engine is running cold the lower hole should pull a good vacuum with your finger plugging it. Once warm there should be barely any vacuum on the lower port. If there is a lot of vacuum when the engine is warmed up, then repair the fast idle valve. Your idle should stop surging when you plug the lower one when the engine is warm.

Plugging the upper hole when the engine is warm should stall the engine.

The heating/cooling problem sounds like a faulty thermostat. Definitely buy the thermostat from the dealer, they are less than $20. Your problems will likely be solved by doing those two things. You'll be out $20 if that doesn't work.

 

ok guys, sorry i havent been replying much.

I have been really slacking off doing anything about the car since its been working decently. Its low rps are always between 1k-2k, but it doesnt go up and down quicky sometimes itl raise and lower steadily.

because of this no seemingly serious problem i have kinda just not done much about it. But i do need to get this worked on.

how important is this guys? will there be some MAJOR? problem if i dont fix this soon. I really got to get my butt out there and do somethign with this.

when fixing the valve will i need to buy a new one or just clean/maintain?

 

Just clean and screw the valve as tight as it goes. That valve has coolant running through it, so either drain the system or have a bucket underneath to catch the coolant when you detach the lines.
