Hey guys, my dad drives a 1998 Honda Accord for work and currently has abotu 223k on it. It is a DX with i think the F23A5 2.3 5 speed manual. Yesterday in downtown SD the engine just died as he was driving so he pulled over and had me tow him around the corner to an empty lot.

we tried jumping the battery and still nothing. I ddont think its the alternator because it sounds as if the engine is going to start but just continues cranking. Put oil and gas in it and waited, still nothing.

My question is, could this be a distributor problem? Fuel system problem? He also just told me that the spark plugs have never been changed....that was my first guess?

 

you answered your own question........it could be either ,, you need to diagnose if it is lack of spark or lack of fuel..assuming like you said that it cranks over ok..

go to the DIY section ,do a bit of reading , there are a few threads that will help you diagnose the issue ..

also why did you add oil,, was it low???

 

It was on the lower end of the dipstick so just added some to bring it back to full
