Exhaust noise/Vibration at 2800-3000rpm
After reading through the archives I was only able to find one related thread. I was hoping folks might be able to shed light on the noise I'm hearing at 2800-3000 rpm. My 94 accord has 286K miles on it of which I've driven 225K of them.
It sounds like a normal exhaust leak, however, my mechanic has checked it over and it appears their are no leaks. However when accelerating through 2800 rpm or coasting down through the same range the cabin noise in the car is almost unbearable. So, my solution to date has been to drive at 78-80 mph so the rpm are 3100 or higher to make the ride bearable.
Has anyone else experienced this exhaust noise?
Thanks
Mark

Check to see whether it's a loose heatshield vibrating.
Also, I think back in '94 the A-pipe (under the oil pan) is a pipe-inside-a-pipe. The pipes can bend & warp with heat & age, so the inner pipe buzzes against the outer pipe. I had that happen in a '95 Integra, & it was a very annoying sound.
