Default Exhaust Recommendations

Given these criteria:

1) Low Cost
2) Good Quality
3) Deep Tone - not raspy under heavy throttle
4) Direct Fit - no welding
5) Accessibility to purchase - local auto parts store (preferably) or mail order

What brand would all of you suggest (header and/or cat and/or muffler) for a 1996 Accord EX Coupe?

Default RE: Exhaust Recommendations

Hi, I hope you don't mind me adding onto this thread. I'm also interested in exhaust but more so:

- performance gain
- good sound, but not an annoyingly loud sound
- not expensive

Can someone recommend something that fits this mould? Are headers recommended for a performance increase (increase in HP)?

Maybe someone can advise us both as opposed to me starting a similar thread. Mine is a 92 Accord LX.

In both cases I have a few questions.... price range? the Apexi WS II exhaust seems to be a big favorite in here, I have a friend with a flowmaster catback (don't remember model) and it's got a good sound but it's fricken loud...

Headers: DC-Sports Headers are claiming a 10-15 hp gain, couple that with a new Short Ram Intake (even a $40.00 one off ebay works well...) and you're looking at 15-20 hp...

The Apexi exhaust runs about $400 on up I believe.... (don't quote me).... are you looking at a lower price range?

For me, for a performance gain and a good sounding (non obnoxious) exhaust I would not want to spend more than $600.00.

I'd say the Apexi would work great for you...

Give missionspeedshop.com a call or PM Sam@missionspeed.com and he can give you some further recommendations on what to use... The thing that really drew me to this exhaust was the fact that it isn't huge, or obnoxious, fairly quiet at idle but will let a nice deep roar when you really step into it... The non-coffee can look is my bag baby.... if you could toss in about $100.00 more you could probably get the Headers and Exhaust for $700.00 (possibly $600.00 if you shop hard...)
