Extra Transmission Cooler....Yes OR NO?
Hey guys, Im a Newbie here... But Im not @ Elementownersclub.com
What im writing about today, is the opinion on transmission coolers... I just recently purchased a 1998 accord 4cyl. She needed a paint job, and a motor mount... Other than the TLC stuff, Im thinkin' that all she needed so far...
The previous owner had the AT replaced at 107k, And since the Stealerships replace the tranny's with rebuilds, I was wondering if putting an additional larger cooler inline with the stock, could make a diffrence in the stability of this transmission...
From what Ive read via search, the tranny's that were affected were for V6 models, of Accord, TL, ODDITY hehe.... And the PILOT....
Oh, and the MDX>>
Do you guys think that the additional cooler, and extra fluid, would make a diffrence, in how long I can get the rebuilt to last? Or am I just wishing on a star?
Any reply from you folks, would be greatly appreciated..
With much thanks, ElementalJ

RE: Extra Transmission Cooler....Yes OR NO?
persoanlly I think it would be a good move, I have used transmission coolers on a couple of other cars Ive owned and they seemed to work a bit better, helped the engine out as well by not stressing out the radiator so much. so ya I would say go for it.

RE: Extra Transmission Cooler....Yes OR NO?
My dad drives a Dodge Spirit, and as you know their trannys weren't the best due to the lack of fluid capacity. Long story short, a LONG time ago when I was 8 or around there we were going to TN, the Spirit crapped out on us and went into safe mode b/c the tranny got to hot. After that he put an aftermarket cooler on there, and now the car has over 150k and its ran flawlessly. Those are only around $30 anyways.
