F20B overheating
ok so I have an F20B in my cb
whats happening is this;
a few days ago it was getting hot about 3/4 to the top so i kicked on the heat hoped it would go back down. and it did but not right away and it went back to norm temp fast. so i continue on home. so before i get on the interstate it starts to heat back up and so i turn the heat back on and continue. during the 20ish mile high way drive home it stayed at about 3/4 the way hot and about a mile before my exit it drops back down and i get home with it fluctuating but not back to 3/4 hot again.
after home i take the t-stat out and drive it about 2 days. so then it started to get hot again. same thing 3/4 then droped.
so heres where im at. i have been letting it run in my drive way and using the bleeder valve on the t-stat to hopefully bleed out and air.
what ive noticed is that when it gets 3/4 hot the fan kicks on and with the bleed valve open the fluid stops flowing out. and the temp goes back down. i would let the system build pressure before i opened the valve so possible air would spew out. also i have plenty of coolant in the rad and the over flow take as well.
so ive also checked the weep hole on the WP(it is new, and i checked it just in case). ive seen nothing flowing out.
in the haynes manual it stated something I would not have thought of. Ignition timing can cause overheating.
and so far ive not seen any white smoke comeing out of the exhaust when i crank it up in the mornings either. ill check this trmw to make sure its not a head gasket but ive not seen any oil in the coolant system as i did drain the radiator when i took the t-stat out so i dont believe its a head gasket.
as of now im thinking ignition timing as ive not had it tuned yet.
any thoughts ideas or suggestions?
ill post a link to the other thread, but ive checked all sensors and replaced a few. i even went to the JY to get a fan switch timer and that didnt fix it, but ill be going again trmw cause its from a JY so maybe i just got a bad one.
im pretty sure its a wiring issue and an issue with the timing of the fans not coming on on time.

It could be thermoswitch A is not closing early enough to enable the fans, however my experience is these cars will not overheat as long as you're moving along at least 20-30 mph, even w/ AC on. Are you running the AC?
I would suggest buying or borrowing a IR thermal gun to shoot the thermostat housing and see what the temp is when gauge temp says 3/4 position. You could have a faulty thermister that senses temp.
good luck

your talking about the fan switch on the t-stat housing right? well ill tell you what ive done. ive swapped it with another sensor, didnt help then i went and bought a new one and it didnt help.
and i dont have A/C
i also found this thread and will be doing some of the test, i just dont really know how to do them and am not very experienced at doing thos kinda test. http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2889629

thats why i believe ive got a issue with the wiring or something along that line.

there is one.
however i just pulled the relay while they were jumped and only the cooling fan shut off. does that tell you anything?

that makes sense. lol i cant seem to fine the a/c relay, its suppoed to be in the front left corner of the car under the hood right?
