Default Fault code p1259

My engine check light is on...Have reset it but comes back on within 15 mins or so...Brought it to Advance Auto Partsand they found one fault code "P1259". So far I have found it to be something wrong with the VTEC and/or bad fuel??? Any suggestions??? Seems to be running fine but can't stand the check engine light...Thanks.....

Put your year model in your signature, so we know what car you are talking about.

It doesnt matter...

P1259 is a VTEC system malfunction. It only occurs on cars who's engines have a VTEC system, whether its a B18 or a H22. Same problem throws the same code..

To the OP - change your oil and get a new filter. Clear the code. Should go away and stay away. Worst case if it comes back, you'll have to clean the screen on the VTEC solenoid.

Thanks for the info....Oil and filter new only 1000 miles on current change and looks good...I guess I need to buy a repair manual because I have no idea on where the vtec solinoid is...Is it obvious?? (first vtech engine)I saw lotsof sensors and relays but no solinoidI'm an oldschool type...thanks.....

The vtec solenoid is mounted on the back of the cylinder head. A Haynes manual should get you through the tests, but a shop manual has much more information.

Got a Haynes manual..Found the solenoid on the oil filter mount. Did all the electrical tests and they passed...Removed the filter mount to get at the bolts for the solenoid...Took the solenoid off and all looked good...Clean up everything and blew out the screen with LP air though the screen did look clean. Put it all back together and it has worked so far...Thanks for all your help.....
