Fix for 94EX Vibration Under Acceleration
I've had problems w/ vibration under firm/heavy acceleration for almost 2 Yrs on my 94EX. I've replaced both front axles twice (warranty replacement of AZ axles) w/o any change in vibration. Recently it seemed to be worse and I noticed that one axle (RH) was clicking on hard turns.
I decided to go another route and try Raxles. I had noticed glowing testimonials from several posters on different forums.
I order the LF axle first as this is longest axle and I knew the installed axle did not have the vibration dampner installed. It cost my $220 for the axle. Raxles would not accept my AZ axle for a core credit (more on that later). I installed the axle a couple of weeks ago and immediately noticed a significant improvement, but not completely fixed. Still some vibration and RH axle was clicking.
I ordered the LH axle and installed today.
I think its significant that both Raxles came w/ vibration dampners and neither of the AZ axles had them.
What a sweet feeling to drive my Accord again w/o vibration. It was great! Like recovering completely from a long illness.
I decided to try and return my axles to AZ to see if they would provide a refund. They advised that I could not get a refund, but could get a store credit (like a gift card). This was a better deal than a core return to Raxles since you pay shipping charges of about $20/axle.
After all the axle swapping and frustration, I'm ready to declare that most auto parts axles are not worth your time. I can't speak for all, but AZ and O'Reillys sell similar parts. I've heard some good things about Napa axles, but have no experience w/ them.
What I can say is Raxles are good, and cost about twice as much as AZ, et al. They are a bargain if you value your time. They also offer a lifetime warranty, which I hope never to use.
Regards
