Flashing D4 and P1753
Thanks ahead of time for anyone that can help!
I've had the "Maint Reqd" light on for a bit and figured it was due to a exhaust cat issue I had repaced and just needed to be reset. Today, I went over a small speed bump at a very low speed and when I hit the throttle nothing happened. The "D4" was flashing. I shifted into 1st and I could move fine. It seemed that I could manually shift fine but the car would not auto shift. I got home to do some research and decided to head to Autozone. I got in the car and travelled about a mile, the "D4" was not flashing and the car auto shifted fine. At Autozone, they pulled the "P1753" code out and it did not clear. When I started the car to drive away, the "D4" light was back on and I had to manually shift.
I don't think this is a physical tranny problem or I would not be able to manually shift or it would be constant. I've read it could be a speed sensor OR AT control unit. Is there anyway to pinpoint exactly what the issue is so I'm not buying 3 diff $100 parts? Thanks for your time!

RE: Flashing D4 and P1753
Any chance you heard or got the code incorrectly? P1753 primarily relates to Lockup solenoids, which should not affect shifting.
However, P0753 has symptom "fails to shift stuck in 4th gear". It is caused by an electrical fault in the shift control solenoid, wiring, or connector. Since this occurred after a speed bump, I would check the connector and wiring first.
Since someone else pulled the code, it may be worth rechecking.
good luck

On 97 Accord the shift control solenoid is on outside of transmission, near radiator, slightly forward of the LockUp solenoids.
You might also try the online manuals at Autozone. They sometimes have necessary details.

ORIGINAL: PAhonda
TexasHonda, his code is p1753.
In my shop manual P1753 is a problem with the lockup solenoid A or the wiring to it.
