Flush B/4 Synthetic Oil
Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm going to give Amsoil a try in my Accord. Someone
suggested that I flush the system before putting the Amsoil in. What exactly is that and
do I need to do it?? Is it difficult to do?? If there is a link on this site for this information
just post a link and I'll read up on it. Thanks.

RE: Flush B/4 Synthetic Oil
My experience with synthetic oil is that it has very agressive detergents in it. If you have normal levels of sludge - that dark brown color you see under the cam cover - you'll probably be fine. Keep an eye on the color of the oil. The first couple of changes will probably be very dark because the synthetic oil is cleaning this stuff from inside your motor. If you have an abnormal amount of sludge build up, the synthetic oil can cause large chunks of it to collect on the oil pickup as it's cleaned out. This is really worse than just sticking with a normal oil. If you have seen under the cam cover and it's pretty clean, you're probably fine. I wouldn't even fool with an oil flush, because that can cause problems too. If it's clean, just switch over and watch the color of the oil.

RE: Flush B/4 Synthetic Oil
i doubt your gonna have slugde with only 16,000 miles on your car, considering you chnage the oil promptly. Anyway you dont need to flush, just drain your old oil and then go to the sythneic stuff. Have fun using syntheic i hear its great.
