Default Flushing Transmission

Just in case everyone has not read deserthonda's post on "flushing" systems please take time to do so: https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/m_52297/tm.htm
I work in insurance claims and I can tell you from first hand experience: DO NOT HAVE A SHOP "FLUSH" YOUR TRANSMISSION! EVEN IF THEY RECOMMEND IT!
I have seen more than one claim come in where a vehicle was brought in to the shop with noproblems at all. Then the transmission was flushed. A short time after this "flush" the transmission was toast and had to be replaced. The vehicles I saw this happen to may not have been Hondas, but I wouldn't recommend anyone have it done to theirs.
PROPS TO DESERTHONDA FOR BRINGING THIS POSSIBLY DAMAGING "SERVICE" TO LIGHT!

Haha! I knew that crap went on. I never saw that video before though!
That's why you ask the oil change guy to show you the dipstick with the clean oil on it. The oil change place I go to shows me my dipstick before they change the oil and after so I can see there is new oil in and it is full. They also let you sit inside you car while they change the oil or you can even stand outside the car (as long as you are not in the way) and watch them if you want to.

The last time I used a Jiffy Lube was ~10 years back. Well, the wife did anyhow. She thought she would do something good since it was a "new" used car we had just gotten and had them do the "transmission service" they offered. While "servicing" it, they snapped the cable between the shifter and the trans, and told her she would have to have it towed to a repair shop. Cost of the tow and repair was on us. [sm=smiley35.gif] As was the cost of the work they had done, including the transmission service.

However, when I got her back home from the shop the car was towed to, she called the manager, the district manager, and the regional manager. She wasn't pleasant about it. In the end, we were refunded for the tow, the oil change, the transmission service, and half the total cost of replacing the cable.

I never took my cars anywhere to get oil changed. I always do it.
Stealerships are the worse.
Few years back I took my Lexus Ls 400 to the dealer to have the transmission fluid changed and Filter replaced.
Paid $200 bux , they never done it , I laid under the car took pictures and sent a nasty letter to the service manager , they did refund my money.
Oh, it was west county Lexus on Manchester Road here in St louis.
