Front Brakes 88 accord
My son has a 88 accord in need of front brakes. Last night i pulled a wheel off expecting to find a brake caliper similar to most others. It was to a point one of the bolts holding the caliper was typical to any other the other Or the one near the top didnt have a bolt that could be remove There does seem to be a nut further in between the caliper and the rotter, i dont see how this will help also it is a bolt that will only except a open end wrench. And rather that rounding off the nut i thought to error on the side of caution. Any help would be greatly appreaciate.

RE: Front Brakes 88 accord
If memory serves the top "bolt" is simply a pivot point... Undo/remove the bottom bolt and the caliper should swing up and clear the rotor... Seperate the brake hose clamp from the knuckle (the two bolts holding the brake line...) remove the bottom bolt and it will pivot clear of the rotor, push in the caliper piston to clear the pads, swing it back down into place and torque the bottom bolt to 33 ft lbs.

Thanks so much for the responce that makes sense. My son felt you needed to be a geinious to get the caliper off i suggested it wasnt that difficult it was different. A pivioting brake caliper is Very different than i have seen from US auto makers
Thanks Again

RE: Front Brakes 88 accord
Do not reinstall those screws, all they will do is give you problem down the line. I know that someone is gonna say i'm wrong, so lemme explain why. The two screws do not hold your rotor onto the hub, that is the job of the lug nuts. The two screws hold the rotor onto the hub during assembly. If these two screws weren't there, people would be getting hit in the head with rotors at the factory. An impact screwdriver will come in handy for this.
