Default front wheel bearing replacement 1999 accord

hello all, I'm having trouble replacing the front wheel bearings on the GF's accord. I took the wheel, brake caliper assembly, and center nut off, but the actual hub itself will not come off! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

First ...the axle needs to come out. Then you will need a 'hubtamer' or similar tool to press the hub out of the bearing race.
Next there is big BIG snap ring to get off from the outerside of the bearing..........then you use the hub tool again to remove the bearing.
As well as all the above; one of the inner races will be stuck on the hub shaft.
I cut grooves in the sides of the race and use a bearing splitter to pull the old one off.

It would be easier to pick up a 36mm wrench a discount tool store (I got one a Northern Tools for $10) and take the axle nut off, remove the axle and bring the whole hub to a shop to have the new bearing pressed in/out.

that does sound alot easier. I rented a tool from advance auto parts (hub puller) but it didnt budge! I dunno if maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe this has went too long that now heat has to come in and help. After i take the axle nut off, the hub should just come off right? correct me if im wrong, but if i take off the shock fork, wont it kinda shoot out towards me?

You can buy the hub and bearing as an assy at reasonable price ($100) and trash the old set. By the time you pay a shop $35- $50 bucks you'll be near that price.

good luck

I'm not 100% sure about a 1999 but i have a 2002 accord ex 2.3 and the front is a pressed bearing. You can't buy it as an assembly, only for the rear.

1998 thru 2002 is pretty much the same. But I've never seen the assembly like Texas says (I used to have a '98). The bearing is pressed into the knuckle, so that assembly would have to include the knuckle. Seems like $100 for that assembly is too good to be true.

The 98 has a similar arrangement to earlier model years (90-97) and the piece is called the hub assy. In the earlier model years it was pressed (lightly easy to remove usually) in the knuckle and retained by 4 bolts. It appears that in years 98 and later, the hub assy is only pressed into the knuckle. I did not see any retaining bolts.

That's right, no bolts. The bearing is pressed into the knuckle & held in with a snap ring #21 in the first picture. The 98 is the first year for that arrangement. 98-02 is quite a bit different from 90-97.

The hub (#3) is pressed into the bearing & held with the axle nut which provides the required pre-load for the bearing set. Pressing the hub OUT of the bearing often pulls the outboard cone out from the bearing, destroying it. You'll think you can press that cone back into place, but the bearing will have a very short lifespan after that.
