Question Fuse 1 blows when I go in Reverse

1994 Honda Accord LX Wagon, F22B2, Automatic

This just started Sunday night. I had just changed out the fuel filter, what a pain. So I went for a drive, and when I put the car in reverse fuse 1 blew.
So I started to look for the problem.
I changed out the neutral safety switch, it was the original anyways. Checked the back up lights, no discernable issues.
Checked all the wiring under the dash for bare spots, all good.
VSS works fine.
Blower motor fine.
PW/PDL all good.
I looked under the hood where I was working and could see no issues there either.

It seems to only happen when I put the car in reverse.
Any suggestions?

This is a situation where you can be tempted to throw parts at the car. Do you have a multimeter and know how to test for open/closed circuits?

I would suspect a problem with the a/t gear position switch or the wiring to the reverse lights, since it only happens when you put the car in reverse.

It is strange that this happened right after replacing fuel filter. There is a grounding point in the general area of the fuel filter that you may want to clean and tighten. Download the 94 shop manual from one of the links in the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section. It will show you the locations of the grounds in the engine bay.

It will also have wiring diagrams to help as well.

Default Figured it out.

Well after tracing every possible wire on this car I finally found the problem.

The left reverse light had a defect. There was a very small wire that had welded itself to the base of the bulb. I find this even more unique because until this problem occurred I had not touched the rear lights. I had also taken out the bulbs and checked them in another vehicle and they worked fine. It was just by luck that I happened to look at the bottom of the base of the light bulb. Go figure that one.
The problem is solved.
