Gear Shift is not smooth
Hi,
The gear shift in my Honda Accord is not at all smooth. Even when i dont accelarte a lot, i can easily feeel the gear changing and there is a significant gap and jerk which is felt. Is this a normal behavior or is there somethig wrong with my Accord. I drive a 2004 Honda Accord Ex-L (V6).
Please advice,
Regards

What legal rights do we have if you have a major failure and there was a factory recall? Altough the car has 80K miles and has no extended warrenty? Honda has offered "assistance" so a new tranny for my 03 V6 is going to be $1500 but still it seems kinda high since this is a known major issue.

SUPHAWK, you're getting a 50/50, thats way better than a swift kick in the butt, ya know?
And consider that on a 50/50 the techs flatrate pay is also cut in half.
Would you R&R a trans for 2-3 hours flatrate pay?
The one thing that sticks in my craw about the entire trans situation is that the american people whined, cried, pissed and moaned, that they wanted the mushy GM shift from the Honda transmissions, then starting in 98 the people got the mushy shift they wanted and all these problems started.
90-97 accords had positive shift pressure and those transmissions are freakin TANKS, BULLETPROOF, NEVER SAY DIE.
So the American people got what they asked for and EXACTLY WHAT THEY DESERVED.

Will the new transmission suffer the same fate eventually? I really like this car and I just spent $350 getting an oxygen sensor replaced, also had all 4 disc brakes redone. Now with a new tranny how long can I go? 80K miles now, Am I good till 160K?

I heard about a lot of problems with the 98-02 transmissions on these forums. I haven't heard about many problems with the 03-06 accords, although anything is possible.
Find out what kind of warranty the dealership has for the replacement transmission. Change the transmission fluid at the proper intervals.
