Default getting ready for 5speed swap need help

Okay I have a 95 accord ex 2.2 vtec 153k with a decent amount of engine mods and I'm starting to notices the torque converter starting to slip alittle. And my buddy just wrecked the exact same car year, model everything except its a 5 speed. And he's gonna give me the tranny and motor before he junks it. And I need to know what kinda project I'm getting into doing a 5 speed swap and what all I need off his car before it goes to the crusher. I'm thinking with the engine mods its getting hard on the auto tranny. Or is there a aftermarket upgraded torque converter package that would be easier to do instead 5 speed. Any help is appriated I've never done one. I've replaces trannys just never a swap

Search the forum for 5spd swap guide, there is a pretty good guide that lists every single part you will need. The only tricky part is the transmission mount on the body is different between the auto and manual cars so you have to cut and weld.

I did this swap and did a write up of the process although the write up in the DYI section was much more detailed.

Have fun installing the new pedals, it was by far the most frustrating part of the swap.

PM me if you have any questions.

Also I recommend you buy the car from your friend for scrap value and take you time pulling all the parts you want then scrap the car yourself.

Thanks. Lots of help. Hopefully everything goes good. We started pulling the tranny already. Seems fairly easy except for cutting and welding my own brackets which wont be too bad. Just time consuming. Thanks for the list. It will be a good winter project

Here is a pic of my 5 speed sitting where the auto used to be and not one thing was cut or welded.

Are you talking about the exhaust manifold?

If so I just hit it with some high temp engine paint. It burns off pretty quick, I just wanted everything to look good after the swap.

Also you did not answer my question from before, what cutting and welding do you think you have to do?
