If the check engine light is on, then get the error code in the engine computer.
There is a blue two-pin connector behind the passenger side kick panel. Short that with a thin paper clip, turn the key to the II position, then you will count flashes to get the code.
On the 92, either the check engine light will flash, or there will be a LED on the ECU that will flash the code.

You should still be able to get the engine code.
What year/model motor was put in there, and what model accord do you have?
I think that a 90-93 motors are all identical as long as it wasn't a DX/LX going into a EX or vise versa.

Both LX so maybe not much difference between the engines.
Camshaft timing or spark timing? Either one can be checked but if you suspect the cam timing has jumped then you should check that out quickly. It's an interference engine so if it works its way farther out of time, you might hit pistons & valves together.

Having a car that someone recently replaced the motor is going to take carefully checking over that everything is connected such as vacuum lines and sensors and not broken. It is common that sensors get damaged in the process.
